The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes makes summer time learning fun and exciting with their very popular Summer Outdoor Adventure Camps. Full and half day camps are available for children ages four through 13, and half-day camps are available for children ages two and a half through five. Overnight camps for kids ages 11-17, include a five day Eco-Adventure Camp in West Virginia. With over 10 different camps to choose from, the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes offers an outdoor learning experience like no other. Moms like Martha Schubert couldn't agree more. "I love the format of the classes," states Schubert. "Combining free unstructured play with outdoor exploration and lessons with crafts. It's perfect for my daughter."
Each camp is led by at least one Nature Center Naturalist and at least one teen volunteer. Full-day campers receive a snack and must bring a reusable water bottle, lunch in a reusable container, and backpack. Scholarships and financial aid packages are available. Achievement-based scholarships cover up to 50% of the cost of one week of camp.
