Do you have an intimate party or special event for up to 100 people coming up? Bring your meeting, wedding, birthday party or banquet to the Nature Center. Contact Beverly Barr at 216-321-5935 ext. 235 or barr@shakerlakes.org for more information.

The Center houses classrooms, a meeting room, exhibit areas, a kitchen, a gift shop, and restrooms. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. , Monday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Rentals can start as early as 8 a.m. by special arrangement, but must finish by midnight.

Programs led by Nature Center naturalists are available for a fee by previous arrangement. A microphone, chalkboard and easel are readily available. A slide projector, television, VCR, DVD player, LCD projector and sound system can also be reserved for a fee.

Our Friends Picnic Pavilion is available on a first-come basis, except when reserved. Portions of our trails can also be reserved for photographic sessions, picnics or special events.

The Meeting Room
The carpeted, wood-paneled meeting room has large windows overlooking the forested valleys and trails of the Nature Center. Special features include a gas fireplace, a 3.5' x 10' buffet table and access to a small kitchen complete with stove, microwave and refrigerator. For your convenience, the room has a simple sound system, projector screen, LCD projector, slide projector, television, DVD player and VCR available for a nominal fee.

Public Use: Three-hour minimum rental (which includes set-up and clean-up time); $250 security deposit which is fully refundable

Non-Profit Groups: Three hour minimum (including set-up and clean-up time); $125 security deposit; $25 for kitchen use

Size: 30' x 40'
Seats: up to 80 with tables; up to 100 for auditorium-style seating

The Activity Room

The tile-floored Activity Room includes a sink and chalkboard. Large windows lining the room overlook the Stearns trail and bird feeding areas. The room provides direct access to the outdoors and is conveniently located near the parking lot and picnic pavilion.

The Friends Pavilion
The Pavilion is an open-sided covered area. Clear roll-down sides can be lowered during inclement weather. The Pavilion has electrical outlets and lighting and is furnished with four wooden picnic tables with attached benches on both sides. No setup, storage, other furniture or equipment will be furnished by the Nature Center.

Fees: Generally, the Friends Pavilion is available for free on a first-come basis to all. However, the Pavilion is also available for rental.

The Grounds

A portion of the Stearns or All People's Trails may be roped off for the exclusive use of a group. Possible locations available for rental include wooden decks with limited seating, a lattice-covered gazebo, and wooded and open settings. Restrooms are available during Nature Center building hours.

Other Rental Information:

downstairsParking: The Nature Center parking lot holds up to 40 cars. Carpooling is encouraged. The lot has marked handicapped spaces and lighting at night

Assistance: A staff member will be available to answer your questions or help with problems from the time of your arrival until your departure. We will do everything possible to make your visit a special and pleasant experience.
