Winter Hike: Last Night in the Woods
Sunday, January 29, 2 to 3 pm
Follow animal tracks in the snow or mud and follow the stories that played out the night before. Come look for tracks and learn about winter wildlife on a one-mile hike. Free for members and $5 for non-members.
Saturday, February 4, 10 am to noon
There is a lot of competition for tree cavities in our suburbs. Fortunately, many birds will readily accept a birdhouse — made by you! We cut the lumber, you put it together! A fun family activity and lesson in conservation. These houses will attract wrens and chickadees. $25 per bird house. Please register by January 26.
Pancake Breakfast with the Birds
Saturday, February 25, 8 am to noon
This joint program with the Rotary Club of Shaker Heights includes an all-you-can-eat breakfast of plain, blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, apple sauce, juice and coffee; guided hikes; crafts and a bird-related show. $9 for adults; $5 for children ages 4-10; and free for children 3 and under.
Build-a-Mason Bee House Workshop
Saturday, March 4, 10 am to noon
Mason bees are small docile bees that are important early season pollinators for fruit trees and other spring flowering plants. Get your garden started right and help declining native bee populations by making a 4"x 4" house for mason and other cavity-nesting bees. We cut the lumber, you put it together! A fun family activity and lesson in conservation. $25 for the first mason bee house and $20 for additional houses. Please register by February 21.
