DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 23\, 10am-4pm \nDoan Brook Watershed Partnership has been hosting our annual event Take to the Lake which was started in 2013 as a memorial to Lester Stumpe\, an avid paddler and early DBWP board member. We typically host the event on the last Saturday in August and this years event details can be found below. Canoeing on the Shaker Lakes was a popular pastime in the first half of the 20th century\, but public boating on the lakes is now less common. Take to the Lake gives participants a chance to resurrect this recreational opportunity for a day\, and gain a new perspective on the lakes and their place in our watershed community. Costumes welcomed and encouraged! \nTicketed or paid activities: decorate a magic pumpkin\, climb the enchanted beanstalk (tree climbing)*\, fun face painting and glitter tattoos\, concoct s’mores\, make whimsical nature crafts\, feast on fairy food at food trucks or grab witches brew at libation stations. \nFree activities: DJ games and costume parade\, story time and making with Shaker Library\, and a spooktacular evening hike. \n*First come first served. Our educators create safe spaces where children become comfortable asking questions\, sharing their ideas with others\, and trying new things. \nThe group of students and the lead NCSL educator are consistent throughout the entire semester\, allowing your Pre-K explorer to practice the soft skills needed for any group environment.  \nQ: Does NCSL offer a licensed Nature Preschool program?\nA: No. The Pre-K Explorers Program meets too infrequently to qualify for the registration process through the state of Ohio. However\, we do have a state and ACA certified day camp and apply those same safety standards and educator expectations. \nSee our Family Starter Guide for more details on program procedures.    \nQ: What will my Pre-K Explorer learn?\nA: Each week offers a different nature theme like bugs\, birds\, or the night sky. While the activities\, games or stories will be anchored to the theme\, student outcome goals center on the Ohio Department of Education’s standards for building inquiry skills and social emotional learning.
