SUMMARY:Take to the Lake
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 23\, 10am-4pm \nDoan Brook Watershed Partnership has been hosting our annual event Take to the Lake which was started in 2013 as a memorial to Lester Stumpe\, an avid paddler and early DBWP board member. We typically host the event on the last Saturday in August and this years event details can be found below. Canoeing on the Shaker Lakes was a popular pastime in the first half of the 20th century\, but public boating on the lakes is now less common. Take to the Lake gives participants a chance to resurrect this recreational opportunity for a day\, and gain a new perspective on the lakes and their place in our watershed community. This free event is an opportunity for people of all ages and experience levels to enjoy a day of fishing and watershed education. Children\, senior citizens and veterans will receive a free fishing rod while supplies last\, and experienced fishing instructors will be onsite. You’ll have fun exploring the grounds with a scavenger hunt to find musical performances and hands-on activities scattered throughout the Nature Center. Join us for this unique al fresco adventure for the whole family! \nPARKING: The parking lot will be closed to general public but a few accessible spots are open and visitors should let parking lot monitor at the bottom of the drive know if they require accessible parking. All other attendees can plan to park on South Park Blvd or West Park Blvd.

DESCRIPTION:Spring Archery at the Nature Center\nSaturday\, April 26 | Time slots available between 12 – 5:30PM | Nature Center\nHave you ever wanted to try archery close to home? Come out and unleash your inner archer\, get a great workout\, and enjoy the beautiful spring weather! Our knowledgeable Education team are also certified archery instructors\, and will teach the safety and skills necessary\, so you can have fun and challenge yourself to hit those bullseyes! \nNo experience required- best for beginners and those with some archery experience\, ages 8 and up. Closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing required. Registration is required and includes a safety and liability waiver. $12 per person. \nTime slots available: 12:00 PM-1:30 PM\, 2:00 PM-3:30 PM\, and 4:00 PM-5:30 PM. Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before your time slot begins. You must be on time\, no late admissions will be allowed due to safety regulations. Registration closes on Friday\, April 25th at 3:00pm. Join us inside at our nature-inspired Holiday Market and Duck Pond Gift Shop. Donations welcome. Market items\, food\, and beverage available for purchase. \nA sensory-friendly room will be available on the second floor of the Nature Center building for anyone who needs a calm place to get away from the noise. Sensory bags are available upon request from the front desk. \nSupport our sustainable efforts!\nWe are collecting large glass marinara and sauce jars for luminaries. Please clean well and remove labels before donating to the Welcome Desk. After the Luminary Walk\, they will be recycled. \nPresented by Port of Cleveland with lighting by Jon’s Lawns
