SUMMARY:Meditation in Nature
DESCRIPTION:The natural world is the perfect place to nourish your inner world! The sights and sounds naturally steady the mind\, releasing the busy thoughts. This class will help you deepen these experiences and will empower you to draw upon this meditation technique on your own. It’s an ideal way to make friends with your mind\, and it’s as natural and as simple as breathing. \nClasses begin in the Activity Room with some simple stretches and breath work\, and a sitting meditation from a chair (or on the floor\, if you prefer). We will then move outdoors\, weather permitting\, for a walking meditation practice. \nAbout your instructor: \nJudy (Jyoti) Evans\, MD\, RYT-200\, offers personalized yoga instruction through her online platform\, Purna Yoga (www.purnayoga.world) \, and teaches group classes at Lotus Flower Yoga Collective in Cleveland Heights https://lotusflowercle.com/ \nRegistration required. $10 per class or $25 for all three classes. Members enjoy a $5 discount with promo code. \nhttps://givebutter.com/auDkfA

SUMMARY:SUMMER WEDNESDAYS: Folk Garden Groove
DESCRIPTION:July 10: Folk Garden Groove \nExperience the charm of folk melodies intertwining with the rhythmic cadence of nature. \nFolk musicians Paul Kovac’s Big ‘Grass Band: At a point in time\, Bluegrass music was one band’s way (Bill Monroe & his Bluegrass Boys) of trying to make a living\, and since it’s inception\, nearly 70 years ago\, Bluegrass has become an accepted form of uniquely American music\, a style quickly identified by the sound of it’s instrumentation\, singing & songwriting\, has stood the test of time\, and is now considered a traditional music form. \nContainer Garden Workshop – walk-ins welcome |REGISTER \nBring a packed dinner and enjoy 25% ice cream at the Duck Pond Gift Shop.  \nAbout the Band Paul Kovac caught the Bluegrass bug while in his teens\, learning to play banjo\, guitar & mandolin\, and quickly joined bands in an effort to ‘earn-while-you-learn’. Realizing that the older\, first-generation musicians held the keys to the kingdom\, he set out to see\, meet and play with as many as he could. Over the year’s\, Paul’s performed with Bill Monroe\, Chubby Wise\, Mac Wiseman\, Vassar Clements\, and countless others. These experiences have been the bedrock of his Bluegrass foundation. Paul Kovac – banjo\, vocal\, David Mayfield – mandolin\, vocal\, Ron Bonkowski – guitar\, vocal\, Alex Greathouse\, bass \nConcerts arranged in partnership with Roots of American Music\nWe nourish our neighborhoods with the transformative power of music through education and performance.\nRoots of American Music uses live music to educate\, inspire\, and comfort people in settings where exposure to music performance is limited or non-existent (music deserts). SUMMARY:Is Nature More Cooperative Than We Think? A Talk with Kristin Ohlson
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, August 15 | 6:00PM-7:00PM | Nature Center \nJoin us for a very special author talk from writer Kristin Ohlson! Books available for purchase from Mac’s Backs-Books on Coventry.\nMost people believe that nature is characterized by competition and conflict—red in tooth and  claw\, as the poet Tennyson said. But recent science suggests that cooperative relationships among living things have both shaped the world around us and continue to knit ecosystems together. How can we both uphold these cooperative relationships and become a cooperative partner with the rest of life? \nRegistration Link: https://givebutter.com/87QPaA
