STEARNS WOODLAND TRAIL IS CLOSED NOW THROUGH FALL 2020

Stearns Woodland Trail is closed for vital restoration and renovation now through fall 2020.
This exciting project is the third phase of a comprehensive vision to enhance and reinvigorate our outdoor classroom, which will expand our ability to fulfill our mission to conserve a natural area, educate visitors about nature, and inspire environmental stewardship.

PARKING

Parking in the Nature Center's parking lot will be limited during construction.


Please allow extra time to find parking for your visit at the Nature Center during the construction period. There will be a limited number of parking spots, including ADA-accessible spots, available in the parking lot.

Alternate parking options: We have obtained permission from the Shaker Heights Police and Fire Departments to utilize portions of South Park Blvd. and West Park Blvd. for overflow staff and visitor parking.

COMING FALL 2020

The new fully restored Stearns Woodland Trail will include enhanced features such as:

A NATURE PLAY AREA

featuring natural structure and materials for creative play in nature

A TREEHOUSE

for imaginative play, giving a bird's eye view to the surrounding forest canopy

WETLAND OBSERVATION DECK

with increased seating alongside our south marsh

A NEW, WELCOMING ENTRANCE AND TRAIL INFRASTRUCTURE

for added safety and trail stability

RESTORATION

of surrounding habitats

INTERPRETIVE SIGNAGE

to enhance visitor experiences and connections with nature

PROGRAMMING IMPACTS

Construction may impact our programming. Be on the lookout for emails or mailed communication that will be coming to your homes with more information regarding impacts to programming.
